The singer-actor posted on Instagram that he will no longer be a part of the Shoaib Akhtar biopic Rawalpindi Express due to ‘creative and personal reasons’. His official statement said, “I have decided to step away from the Shoaib Akhtar biopic project Rawalpindi Express. I will no longer be associated with any media or news related to this project. “The news may have disappointed the fans of the singer who were looking forward to see him portray the role of the Pakistani fast bowler.
In November last year, the news of the Umair Jaswal being a part of the biopic was shared. The biopic will be a story of the bowler’s personal and professional life. The actor hasn’t been a part any movie for the past six years.
Previously when talking about being a part of the movie, Umair Jaswal had said, “This project is a dream come true for me as an actor, I feel extremely fortunate to portray Shoaib Akhtar on screen. His life is an inspiration to several youngsters in Pakistan. He is not just a superstar in Pakistan but for all cricket lovers globally.” The actor considered this opportunity as a big responsibility on his shoulders.
The film that would depict the journey of the bowler from 1975-2002, is slated to release on November 16, 2023 however now with the lead actor exiting the movie, it would be interesting to see if the film’s release will pushed further.
The is being directed by Muhammad Faraz Qaiser, written by Qaiser Nawaz and produced under the banner of Q Films Productions and will be shot in Pakistan, Dubai, New Zealand, and Australia
The production house has not made any official statements yet pertaining to the other cast members or regarding Umair Jaswal quitting the movie. The fans of the cricketer will be excited to see who will now portray the role of Shoaib Akhter in his biopic.
