LAHORE: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited the Kartarpur Corridor on Tuesday along with his delegation. He was received by Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht and other senior government officials at the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

The UN chief is on a two-day visit to the city where he will hold important meetings with leaders, students and visit the city’s landmarks such as the Badshahi Mosque and the Shahi Qila.

He paid a visit to the Gurdwara at Kartarpur which was inaugurated last year by Prime Minister Imran Khan, welcoming Sikh pilgrims from India.

Guterres spoke to students of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and told them that technology was essential to bridge gaps. He also told them that the biggest issue facing humanity was the environment.

“We have to take decisions keeping in mind the environmental issues as it is the biggest challenge that we are facing,” he had said.
