UN Women, Pakistan Agree to Form Platform for Female Athletes

Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza met representative of UN Women Pakistan and agreed to form a platform where the voice of Pakistan’s female athletes could be heard.

Mr. Jamshaid Kazi, Country Representative of UN Women, accompanied by Ms. Saman Ahsan, Program Management Consultant, met the federal minister.

During the meeting, Fehmida Mirza recognized that Pakistani women were immensely talented and their achievements in sports were impressive.

“Despite limited resources and a number of challenges, our female players are excelling in various sports. It is important that their voice may be heard and they may have equal opportunities and resources,” she said.

It was agreed that UN Women Pakistan and the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination would form a forum where women athletes can voice the issues and challenges that they face.

It would also provide an opportunity to get some ideas and suggestions to direct long-term deliberations.
