Under PM Shehbaz, Pakistan can achieve greater accomplishment in nation-building: China
BEIJING: Pakistan, under the leadership of newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the new government, could achieve a greater accomplishment in the cause of national development, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said.
“We believe that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz and the new administration, Pakistan can achieve a greater agreement in nation building,” Mao Ning said during her regular briefing in response to a question.
Felicitating Shehbaz Sharif on assumption of office of the prime minister of Pakistan, she said Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang had sent their congratulatory messages to him.
The spokesperson said that China commended positive remarks made by the prime minister of Pakistan on bilateral relations and the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “We commend his positive statement regarding China-Pakistan relations and CPEC,” she said.
The spokesperson expressed the optimism that Pakistan could continue to work with China for high-quality construction of CPEC and advance China-Pakistan all-weather cooperative partnership to foster an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future and deliver more benefits for the two peoples.
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
President Xi Jinping expressed the confidence that under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s new government, and united efforts of all sectors of Pakistan, Pakistan would be able to make new and greater achievements in the cause of national development and progress.
He stressed that China and Pakistan should continue their traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, jointly build an upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, continue to deepen their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, build a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, and create more well-being.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang of the State Council also sent a congratulatory message to the newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
