Urea price slashed by Rs375 per bag to support farmers: minister

Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar said that the price of 50 Kg urea bag has been reduced by Rs. 375 /- to provide relief to the farmers in line with vision of the Government.

The new price per 50kg bag of urea is fixed at Rs. 1665 /-. The Minister was talking to President Pakistan Kissan Ittehad Mr. Khalid Mehmood Khokhar who called on him here in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Minister said that the Government was cognizant of the issues being faced by farmer community and was undertaking measures to resolve them. He stated that development and modernization of agriculture sector was high priority of the Government which was evident from initiation of various agriculture programmes.

He apprised that prices of fertilizer have been declined by waiving off GIDC and measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted supply to farmers. During the meeting, issues of cotton crop and electricity supply to the farmers were also discussed.

The minister stated that the Government is committed to provide full support to the farmers to increase the agricultural productivity.
