US appreciates Pakistan’s donation of surgical masks, protective suits

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo thanked Pakistan for donating surgical masks and protective suits to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Pompeo wrote: “Appreciate Pakistan’s goodwill donation of surgical masks and protective suits to @FEMA.” “This delivery is a symbol of U.S.-Pakistan solidarity in the fight against COVID-19,” he said.

Pakistan Armed Forces had gifted a plane load of PPE to US Armed Forces as a token of friendship and solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senior US officials joined Pakistan team at the hand-over ceremony at Andrews Air Base on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Asad M Khan said Pakistan and the US would jointly fight the coronavirus.

“Thanks for your appreciation Secretary Pompeo. Pakistan and the United States have always worked together to promote common interests and counter common challenges. It is no surprise that #WeAreInThisTogether in the fight against COVID-19 as well!,” Ambassador Khan tweeted.
