Uzair Baloch tells court he’s being pressurised to join PTI

KARACHI: Lyari gangwar kingpin Uzair Baloch informed an anti-terrorism court a few days ago that he was being pressurised and targeted for his affiliation with the PPP and was also being forced to join the PTI.

Baloch was presented at the judicial complex of the Central Jail Karachi from the Mitha Ram hostel where he was kept by Rangers personnel. He arrived at the complex in tight security. The hostel is used by Rangers personnel as a base for their operations.

Baloch told the court bluntly that he was being pressurised to join the PTI, adding that if he were to do so, all charges against him will be dropped instantly.

He requested the judge to transfer him to jail since he was allegedly being tortured at the hostel and was not being provided facilities at the hostel which was his basic right.

The Lyari gangwar leader is currently facing charges for around five dozen cases of serious crimes – including murder, attempts to murder, kidnapping, extortion, and terrorism in special courts. Besides, in April, he was sentenced by a military court to 12 years in prison for spying for the Iranian intelligence agencies.
