Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passes away

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passed away on Thursday in Mumbai after a long battle with cancer.  He was 67.

Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news of Rishi’s demise to local media. Randhir said, “He passed away just now.”

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan also took to Twitter to share the news with his fans and followers.

Mr Bachchan tweeted, “T 3517 – He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed!”

Rishi Kapoor was admitted to Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital on April 29.

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and had then traveled to New York for treatment.

Tributes and condolences started to pour in on social media about the demise of Mr. Kapoor.

Actor Akshay Kumar tweeted, “It seems like we’re in the midst of a nightmare…just heard the depressing news of #RishiKapoor ji passing away, it’s heartbreaking. He was a legend, a great co-star and a good friend of the family. My thoughts and prayers with his family.”

Priyanka Chopra shared on Twitter, “My heart is so heavy. This is the end of an era. #Rishisir your candid heart and immeasurable talent will never be encountered again. Such a privilege to have known you even a little bit. My condolences to Neetu maam, Ridhima, Ranbir and the rest of the family. Rest in peace Sir.”

“Heartbroken with the news of demise of Legendary @chintskap Sir. The movies will never be the same again. Rest in peace. Prayers & Duas wishing strength for the family & fans. #RishiKapoor,” Nusrat Jahan said via Twitter.

Rajinikanth posted on Twitter, “Heartbroken … Rest In Peace … my dearest friend #RishiKapoor”

Jr NTR tweeted, “Heartbreaking!!! We lost the supremely talented Irrfan Khan sir yesterday. And now, the legendary Rishi Kapoor Saab! This is a devastating loss for Indian Cinema.”
