Former Pakistani fast bowler and cricketing great Wasim Akram has offered to take part in the Big Bushfire Bash which ais to collect funds for victims of the bushfires that took place in Australia. This was reported by the Australian press.
The Big Bushfire Bash aims to collect funds for victims of the catastrophe. Akram said he had so far not been contacted by organisers of the event but said he would like to be involved and help in any way he can.
“Even before I was married to an Australian, Australia has always been very close to my heart. I feel for Australia. Thank God there was rain in the last couple of days and hopefully, that will help,” he said.
“The devastation the Australians have been through … my heart goes out to them,” he added, speaking to the Australian Associated Press (AAP).
The two teams that will play in the charity match include one led by former Australian greats Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne. Sources claim MS Dhoni, Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar are also on-board for the project.
Aussie coach Justin Langer and other former players such as Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Alex Blackwell and Michael Clarke have confirmed their participation for the match
