SHC wants Mohatta Palace turned into medical college

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the Qasar-e-Fatima (better known as Mohatta Palace) to be turned into a medical college for the benefit of the people.

This was said by the court during a hearing, saying that the college should include a hostel. It also added that the names of the legal heirs be installed on a plaque and a trust should be set up to manage the affairs of the medical college.

All parties in the case have essentially agreed to the Sindh High Court’s proposal. Some names have been recommended to run the medical college. These are:

Dr Abdul Bari of Indus Hospital, SIUT’s Dr Adib Rizvi, Justice (retd) Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice (retd) Fahim Siddiqui.

The development came during the hearing of the case of the distribution of Quaid-e-Azam and Fatima Jinnah’s residence.

The court also asked for a record of all the activities and income generated from Qasar-e-Fatima in the last 30 years.
