Shibli Faraz made information minister, Asim Bajwa replaces Firdous Awan

ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Senator Shibli Faraz has been appointed as the new Federal Information Minister.

Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry announced the latest cabinet change through Twitter on Monday.

Lt-Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been named special assistant to the prime minister (SAPM) for information in place of Firdous Ashiq Awan who has been de-notified.

A notification announcing the changes is expected to be issued by the government.

Shibli Faraz, who is the son of late poet Ahmed Faraz is the leader of the house in Senate. He was elected to the upper house in March 2015 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Retired Lt Gen Bajwa had served as Commander Southern Command before his retirement. He remained the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) from 2012 to 2016.

In November last year, Bajwa was appointed by the government as the chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPECA), which comes under the planning and development ministry.
