PML-N President and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday slammed the government for treating doctors with “disdain and neglect” in its policy formulation regarding the coronavirus outbreak.
Taking to Twitter, Shehbaz lashed out at the government for not heeding advice from health experts.
“Everywhere in the world, the public policy on the pandemic is being formulated in consultation with the health experts who are leading the fight. The disdain & neglect with which this government has been treating our doctors & their advice is criminal, to say the least,” he tweeted.

His criticism of the government comes a day after leading doctors in Karachi who are part of the Pakistan Medical Association urged the Centre to impose a stricter lockdown, saying that they did not have the facilities in hospitals to deal with the pandemic.
During a press conference, the doctors said that Pakistan did not have enough ventilators, hospitals or the equipment to deal with coronavirus patients if the disease got out of control.
