I salute the Sindh police: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has heaped praise on the Sindh police after several top officers including the provincial chief went on leave following a controversy surrounding the arrest of Captain Safdar in Karachi.

“I salute the Sindh Police!,” wrote Maryam Nawaz on Twitter while sharing a quote of the founder of nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah who said: ““If you want to raise the prestige and greatness of Pakistan, you must not fall victim to any pressure, but do your duty as servants to the people and the State, fearlessly and honestly.”

In a second tweet, Maryam Nawaz said that it was heartening to see civilians breaking shackles of fear and standing up for supremacy of constitution and reclaiming their long lost rights.

The conspiracy and conspirators stand badly exposed. Thank you Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for your support & clear stance. Pakistan has changed,” she said.

In his leave application doing rounds on social media, AIG Imran Yaqoob Minhas wrote: “in the recent episode of registration of FIR against Capt Safdar in which police high command has not only been ridiculed and mishandled, but all ranks of Sindh police have been demoralized and shocked.”

“In such stressful situation, it is quite difficult for me to discharge my duty in a professional manner,” he added.

According to Geo News, IG police, DIGs and AIGS as well as CCPO Karachi have gone on leave in protest against the incident.
