Imran Khan, General Bajwa discuss Covid-19 response, internal security

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday to discuss coronavirus pandemic and others matters of national importance.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Planning Minister Mr. Asad Umar and DG ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed were also present during the meeting, according to a government’s press release.

Matters pertaining to internal security, current situation vis-a-vis COVID-19 pandemic, relief efforts and the overall regional situation was discussed.

‘We have to learn with virus’

“We have to live with this coroanvirus until a vaccine is developed,” said Prime Minister Imran Khan during the inauguration of COVID-19 Telehealth Portal in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister expressed confidence that whole nation will work together to confront the threat posed by COVID-19. “We have to live with this virus for some time until a vaccine is developed,” he added. He further maintained that even advanced countries with much more resources are unable to cope with the situation.

“In this context, we are facing a bigger challenge as in past not adequate investments were made in Pakistan in the health sector. However, the Prime Minister was of the view that Covid-19 situation is not so bad in Pakistan as compared with other countries.
