Mawra Hocane slams Dr Nauman Niaz for ‘disrespecting’ Shoaib Akhtar

Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane lashed out at PTV Sports anchor Dr Nauman Niaz for disrespecting former Pakistan fast bowler and Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar during a live transmission.

Taking to Twitter, Mawra Hocane heaped praises on Shoaib Akhtar and said she was appalled at the Game on Hai‘s host for his behaviour.

“Our national heroes have put us on the world map for years. #ShoaibAkhtar is our cricket Legend, I am absolutely appalled at the misbehaviour & disrespect shown to him by a tv anchor, no justification whatsoever! Sir, we respect you & THANKYOU for your services to Pakistan!” she tweeted.

The entire controversy started when during a live transmission of the show, Dr Nauman Niaz and the former fast bowler were discussing Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. Shoaib said something along the lines of “sir, someone had to come to work, right?”

At this, the host became angry and told Shoaib that “you can leave if you want” for being oversmart. After Akhtar reacted angrily, the host took a break in the middle of the show.

After coming on-air again, Shoaib Akhtar tried to let things slide but he was visibly disturbed. The former fast bowler then unclipped his microphone, got up, and left the show mid-way after announcing he had resigned.

The host kept going on as if nothing had happened.
