FIFA World Cup winner, Lionel Messi is set to return to Paris Saint German post the holidays next week. He is currently in Argentina to celebrate the victory with the people and spend Christmas break with his family.
Paris Saint German club coach Christophe Galtier said, “He will come and join us either on the second or third (January) to pick up the season with us. He will have had between 13 and 14 days of recovery.”
The club is looking forward to welcoming Messi back in the squad and extending his contract with the club for one more year. The star footballer will however sit out PSG’s Ligue 1 game against Strasbourg on Wednesday and the trip to Lens on Sunday. The Ligue 1 is set to start on Wednesday.
Galtier has confirmed the availability of both Kylian Mbappe and Nyemar Jr for the matches. Even though Neymar sustained an ankle injury in the World Cup, when asked about him the coach said, “He is fine on a physical level, his ankle is fine. On a mental level: he really wants to play, that’s a good sign.”
Christophe Galtier also spoke about a possible rift between Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi post France losing against Argentina in the final. “There is no reason to mix everything up in the relationship between Kylian and Leo [Messi].” He praised Mbappe for his attitude post the France defeat.
PSG are top Ligue 1 on 41 points after 15 games, five above second-placed Lens. For all the football fans that are missing football post the World Cup, it will surely be a treat for them to see Messi, Mbappe and Neymar play together in PSG again.
