Neymar ruled out of the football season due to ankle injury

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar will be missing out the rest of the season and will undergo surgery in Doha, Qatar to repair his ankle ligaments that will keep him out for at least three months.

Neymar has missed out on the last two matches of Ligue 1 after he was taken out of the match against Lille in a stretcher. He had 13 goals and 11 assists to his credit this season.

The PSG team had released an official statement saying, “Neymar Jr. has had several episodes of instability in his right ankle in recent years.”

“Following his last sprain contracted on Feb. 20, the medical staff … recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity.

“A delay of three to four months is expected before his return to training.”

The PSG coach Christophe Galtier calling Neymar’s absence a ‘big loss’ said that he wants to fill up Neymar’s position with a midfielder instead of an attacker.

The PSG coach further added, “Our squad is weakened by suspensions and injuries, we have to work our way through the league.”

“I hope the players don’t have the game against Bayern on Wednesday in the back of their minds. It’s important to get the third league win in a row.”

Neymar’s tweet however indicates that the 31-year-old is not discouraged due to his injury and promised his fans to ‘come back stronger’.
