ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has released 20 Indian fishermen who completed their jail term.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Department, the Indian prisoners have been repatriated via Wagah Border to India on 24 January.
These prisoners have been released on completion of their sentences, it said.
“The issue of prisoners is of humanitarian nature and Pakistan expects the government of India to reciprocate the gesture in the same spirit,” it added.
Pakistan and India regularly arrest rival fishermen for violating the maritime boundary which is poorly marked at some points.
