Pakistan records over 3200 new Covid cases
Pakistan on Tuesday reported more than 3250 cases of Coronavirus virus from across the country.
According to latest figures shared by the National Command and Operation Centre, at least 3, 226 people have tested positive. Another 39 people have succumbed to the disease, it said.
Nearly 50, 000 people underwent Covid tests on Monday, it added.
On July 25, NCOC chief Asad Umar said that total vaccinations carried out so far now exceed two and a half crores.
“Total number of people vaccinated has now crossed 2 crores. Further acceleration being planned for august. By end August all major cities target is to have at least 40% of eligible population vaccinated,” he added.
Sindh announces new curbs
The Sindh government announced it was imposing new restrictions from July 26.
The new curbs include the closure of indoor and outdoor dining at restaurants as well as restricted market timings.
The provincial government plans to ask the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block the mobile phone sims of all unvaccinated individuals after a week’s notice.
Essential services like pharmacies, grocery stores and bakeries are exempted from the restricted timings and permitted to remain open.
