Cristiano Ronaldo had a fall out with Manchester United last month after his explosive, tell all interview with Piers Morgan. In the interview, he had claimed that he feel ‘betrayed’ and that some people don’t want him there.
Now a month later, Ronaldo has signed a two and a half year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr worth 200 million Euros.
Al Nassr football club shared the news on their social media pages with Ronaldo holding the team’s jersey and welcomed him to his ‘new home’. The club tweeted, “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC “
Regarding signing the contract and embarking on this new journey Ronaldo said, “I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also added, “I am looking forward to joining my new team mates and together with them help the Club to achieve success.”
Before signing with the Saudi club, Ronaldo has been a part of European clubs Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
The Portuguese forward has who plans to retire by 40 has more than 800 club and country goals to his credit. He played his last World Cup in Qatar with Portugal which unfortunately didn’t end in the team’s favour and the team was eliminated in the Quarter final against Morocco.
The nine time Saudi Pro Premier League title winner club hopes to win another domestic league title and at the AFC Asian Champions League post the valuable addition of Ronaldo in their squad.
The Saudi Arabian national team have been performing well in the recent past and have put themselves on the map after the break through performance against the now World Champions Argentina in Qatar. They managed to defeat them however got eliminated before reaching the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup.
