Shaheen Afridi resumes bowling practice at Karachi

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has joined team today to start rehab ahead of the upcoming one day matches against New Zealand. The pacer has been out of action since the T20 World Cup final where he sustained a knee injury while fielding.  He had returned to international cricket in the T20 world cup after a previous knee injury he got during the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

In a statement, the PCB said, “While providing Shaheen top-notch care, the move will allow the medical staff to track his progression and pave way for his smooth return to action.”

Shaheen Afridi who is slated to participate in the upcoming season of Pakistan Super League started bowling under the vigilance of their coach Shaun Tait and physio Cliffe Deacon.

Previously, Haris Rauf had been called by the interim committee to assess his fitness and decide his availability ahead of announcing the squad for the ODIs against New Zealand. Haris Rauf suffered a grade-II strain in the right quad on the first day of the Test series against England. The series had been his much awaited Test debut but unfortunately he succumbed to an injury in the first Test and couldn’t play in the rest of the matches. He has been sharing his practice videos on his social media pages.

The three match ODI series is slated to begin on 9th January.
