Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zahida Parveen briefed the press on Thursday and made some revelations regarding the case of girl who drowned at the Sea View. The deceased who used to work at a vet clinic in Karachi was suspected to have died by committing suicide after body was recovered from the sea.
Now as per the latest development, the SSP have claimed that there were visible marks on her face which could be the cause of her death. However, the cause of death will be determined by the final autopsy report and chemical examination. She further added that the victim “was not sexually abused prior to her death”.
The SSP further divulged some details about the case and said, “Shan and his friend, Waqas — who was responsible for providing feed to the animals — had been found directly involved in destroying the evidence.”
Furthermore, the SSP said that Jamal, intimated the police regarding the drowning of a girl in the afternoon of January 6 by calling 15 — the police helpline. The girl was sitting on the beach crying for 15 minutes and was very angry at the caller for contacting 15. As per the SSP, the victim threw her phone and left, the phone was later found by the forensic team.
While Shan Saleem and his accomplice Waqas is in police custody, the third culprit, a female colleague Bisma is still on the run and police is actively searching for her.
Even though the exact location of the murder has been identified, SSP Parveen said, “Vulgar activities were taking place under the name of the hospital”.
Based on the findings so far, the murder charges have now been added to the case FIR. The rest of the staff is also being investigated for the case.
