Priority will be to act as bridge between govt, media: Shibli Faraz

Newly appointed Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz said on Tuesday that his priority will be to act as a bridge between the government and the media.

Taking to Twitter a day after it was made public that Faraz had been appointed the new information minister, he thanked members of the cabinet, opposition and the PTI for congratulating him.

وزیراعظم کی بصیرت کی روشنی میں ملک کے تشخص کی بہتری ، حکومتی پالیسیوں کی ترویج واشاعت اور وزارت ِ اطلاعات کو جدید خطوط پر استوار کرنے کے لئے پورے جذبے، لگن اور توجہ سے محنت کریں گے۔ وزارت کے روایتی کردار میں پیشہ وارانہ جدت کے علاوہ اسے مستند بنائیں گے۔

Senator Shibli Faraz was appointed as the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting while Chairperson CPEC Authority Lt Gen (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting in place of Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Monday.

Faraz is serving as the Leader of the House in the Senate while Lt Gen (retd) Asim Bajwa has served formerly as the DG ISPR.

It remains unclear why the government chose to bring about the changes to the information ministry.
