Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have served Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan with a defamation notice of 10 billion rupees for his ‘baseless allegations’ against the former president of Pakistan Asif Zardari.

The notice states, “The statements made by you [Khan] have caused great harm and hurt to the sentiments of the members of Pakistan Peoples Party which are not only in Pakistan but all over the world thereby damaging and defaming their reputation.”

The notice calls all the comments made by the PTI chairman against Asif Zardari as defamatory, libelous, scandalous” and a cause of great ‘mental stress’ for the PPP co chairman.

The notice demands an ‘unconditional apology’ from the PTI chairman within 14 days of receipt of the notice.

All of this has come a week after the former premier blamed Asif Zardari for planning his assassination and hiring of ‘terrorists’ for the task. Imran Khan had said, “He (Asif Zardari) has amassed a lot of money through corruption and he has invested that money in terrorists and hired a militant organisation.”

After these allegations, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari promised ‘legal responses’ regarding the matter and said “He (Imran Khan) & his associates’ history as both sympathisers & facilitators of terrorists are well documented.”
