UAE starts Sinopharm trials for children under 18

The members of the Abu Dhabi ruling family will be participating in the administrative trial of China’s Sinopharm vaccination for children aged 3-17 stated by an Emirati media officer.

The trial will be monitoring the response of the vaccine in 900 children, this trial is taking place for preparation to vaccinate children in the future, mentioned in a tweet on Wednesday.

The crown prince Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed, son of UAE’s de facto ruler accompanied their children, nieces and nephews to participate in the study.

Earlier, this year the UAE had approved the Pfizer-BIONTech vaccination to be used for emergency purposes for children aged 12-15.

The country has the world’s highest immunization rates, on Wednesday registered 2,011 new coronavirus cases taking the toll to 603,961 with 19,108 active cases and 1,738 deaths.
