MIANWALI: Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday urged the police force to provide masses with a sense of protection and security.
The prime minister was addressing participants at the inauguration of a model police station in Mianwali. He said during the past 30 years, governments had ruined the country and police system.
“When we took over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the police was demoralised,” he said. “We separated the police from politics and made it an impartial institution.”
Khan said governments in the past had appointed their cronies to to control police stations which ultimately resulted in people suffering. He urged police to help solve people’s problems as they came to them during their time of distress.
The prime minister urged Inspector-General (IG) Punjab to reform police.
“IG Punjab should reform the police, he will get all the help he wants from the government,” said the prime minister.
Prime Minister Imran said the biggest issue he used to encounter while visiting his constituency of Mianwali as an MNA was that of police stations. He said politicians used to maintain control over thana-kutchery by installing their own persons for their personal benefits.
