Prominent writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar abused and swore at a woman on live TV on Tuesday, as social media went up in arms over the Mere Paas Tum Ho writer’s abusive rant.
Rehman was on a talkshow with activist Marvi Sirmed as well. Marvi, who was on the phone, interrupted Rehman when he was criticising the popular Aurat March slogan: “Mera Jism, Meri Marzi”.
“Don’t interrupt in between,” shouted Rehman.
“Mera Jism Meri Marzi,” shouted Marvi, again.
That led the two to exchange hot words as Rehman abused her and told her to shut up. The host of the show tried to intervene and silence Marvi but to no avail.
Social media went up in arms over the incident, calling out Rehman for abusing a woman and that too, on national TV.
This is the man who preaches morality and mannerism to women participating #AuratMarch. Just see the true face of anti #AuratMarch crowd. https://t.co/Ign5vl2wrw

That shows the level of ignorance in our society where celebrated writers can behave in such disreputable manner. Disgusting!

#khalilurrehmanqamar how DARE you disrespect a woman like that. You need to sit down and have a think about the gutters in which your mind lives. Shame on you.
