Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat was featured in the international magazine ‘Muslim Vibe’ on Tuesday when she made the list for the 5 Musim women who were changing the world.
Among the women who made the list were Egyptian athlete Manal Rostom, US congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Mehwish Hayat, activist Linda Sarsour and entrepreneur Ibtihaj Muhammad.
“You may have first seen her on the big screen, but Mehwish Hayat is making waves through her activism and humanitarianism around the world. Mehwish is a Pakistani actor, singer, and philanthropist who has recently partnered with Penny Appeal as our new Ambassador,” read the post on Muslim Vibe about Mehwish.
“Passionate and articulate, Mehwish has recently hit the headlines for advocating for positive representation and peace in Pakistan.”
The feature did not go unnoticed by the actress herself who tweeted with delight about it.
“I am so honoured to be chosen by the international Magazine, “Muslim Vibe” as one of the top five Muslim women in the world who are breaking stereotypes and changing the world. To be thought of in the same breath as women I look up to is humbling,” she tweeted.

The actress recently spoke out on Sky News and BBC about how Bollywood in particular and Hollywood as well portrayed Muslims and Pakistanis in a negative light.
Mehwish criticised Bollywood regarding how it showed Pakistanis as bearded men with guns and women in burqas.
“That is not what we are who we are,” she said.
Good on Mehwish. Congratulations from us here at Positive Media Communications!
