ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday ordered reopening of Chaman-Spinboldak border crossing that was closed due to Coronavirus pandemic. .
Taking to Twitter, PM Khan said that Pakistan was committed to supporting Afghans.
“Despite global pandemic of COVID 19, we remain committed to supporting our Afghan brothers & sisters. I have given instructions to open the Chaman-Spinboldak border & let trucks crossover into Afghanistan. In time of crisis, we remain steadfast with Afghanistan,” Khan tweeted.
Earlier this month, after the emergence of four cases of coronavirus , Pakistan shut down the border with Afghanistan to prevent the spread of the virus.
In addition to this, strict precautionary measures were put in place in the areas near the border, including the establishment of an isolation ward at DHQ Hospital, Parachinar. Isolation wards have also been set up at the Pak-Afghan Friendship Hospital, Landi Kotal, and hospitals in Jamrud.
